The following two linkage is from D365 Official article about synchronizing your email system with Microsoft Dynamics 365 by SSS and Email Router

Email Router:https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn832088.aspx
Email Router only synchronizes email messages. It doesn’t synchronize appointments, contacts, or tasks.
