Disbursement and Disbursement Distribution

In the NfP Accelerator solution there seems to be 2 links between the Disbursement and Disbursement Distribution.

1) N:1 -> Multiple Disbursement Distributions can have the same Disbursement (Payment field on the Disbursement Distribution)

2) 1:N -> One Disbursement Distribution can be linked to multiple Disbursements (Adjusts Original Transaction field on the Disbursement)

I understand the first option as a single Disbursement can draw down from multiple Disbursement Distributions.

Can somebody help me understand the intended use of the relationship in option 2? The documentation is very sparse on this. Would like to understand this better before beginning to use this.

Thanks.

    Hi Dan,

Thanks. Was about to send you an email. :) But thought to try the forum first as it would help others looking for answers a well.

    Cheers

Sabrish, your statement is correct. The ERDs in the Nonprofit Accelerator Reference are intended to demonstrate concepts - i.e. How to Model Awards - rather than be technically correct entity relationship diagrams. Please let us know if you have the information you need or if we can be of further service.

    Hi Rajesh,

    Thanks.

It wasnt very clear from the annotations on the entity diagrams. As the annotations (examples) in the diagrams explain point 3 in your response. But that relationship doesn't exists OTB (only relationships in point 1 & 2 exists) and is for app builders to create it if required. Is my statement correct?

    RE: Disbursement and Disbursement Distribution

    1. A Disbursement can have one or many Disbursement Distributions. The intent of this relationship is to allow one Disbursement to be linked to one or many Budgets and/or Delivery Frameworks. This link demonstrates how a Disbursement can fund (meaning provide funds for use) a Budget or a Delivery Framework (i.e. a Program, Project, etc.).

    2. The attribute Adjusts Original Transaction on Disbursement is intended to point to a Disbursement that has been adjusted - providing traceability if an adjustment to a Disbursement is required. We expected app developers to build versioning/adjustment capabilities based on this concept.

    a. The above 1-3 will cover the vast majority of use cases.

    3. As you noted, you may relate one Disbursement Distribution to one or many Disbursements.  The intent of this relationship is to aggregate the connection between multiple disbursements to one or many Budgets and/or Delivery Frameworks.

    a. This is a minority, but key use case to enable in the CDM.
