attachment problems when tracking e-mails in CRM

We use Dynamics CRM online.  When one of our staff is tracking e-mails being sent to clients that has an attachment with it.  Client's are receiving that e-mail with a Winmail.dat attachment (even though the attachment is a pdf).  If we turn off the tracking, the e-mail is received normally.

We have tried to send the e-mails in text or html formats and turning off the rtf option.  But none of these work.  It seems to be an issue with the tracking. Has anyone else had this issue and how do I resolve it.

Thank you.

Vince

Here is a solution suggested by MS: support.microsoft.com/default.aspx

Users reported it was working for them in Outlook 2007, but not 2010 or 2003.

According to what I can read, it's an issue cause by Outlook or might have something to do with SMTP processing. If the above article doesn't resolve the issue, your best bet is to report a case with Microsoft.

An additional solution for Outlook 2010:

Standard warnings apply for registry modifications.

After you have made a backup of the registry, try the registry key as follows:

    1. Exit Outlook 2010.

    2. Start Registry Editor.

    3. Locate and then select the following registry subkeys:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Preferences

    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

    5. Type DisableTNEF, and then press ENTER.

    6. Right-click DisableTNEF, and then click Modify.

    7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

    8. Exit Registry Editor.

    9. Restart the computer.
