TMS and Shipments

Hi D365 Folks,

Im making integration between 1 software and D365. D365 will be just for evidence but i need to have to processes in D365. In FO will be WMS and TMS so the other software knows how many items are in the warehouse so it can plan and calculate the route and other stuff with it and then just send me data and i have to go through the process and make it in D365.

The question:

I need to make shipments out of sales lines and then add the shipments to a Load. Is there a way to do it without making Work? All i need to do is make Shipments and then add to Load, i dont want any work and i dont wanna release it to warehouse because that will make the work :D.
Whenever i use load panning workbench i have to do first Load and then Shipment ID is made and i dont want that.

Best regards
Antonín

    Hi,

In standard D365 SCM, shipments are generated only when you release sales orders to the warehouse, and that process always creates workthere’s no way to generate a shipment without triggering warehouse work.

If you're only trying to simulate logistics and use TMS for planning without actually moving inventory, consider using freight order functionality (like Rate Route Workbench or Freight Order Workbench) which allows you to simulate loads and routes without shipments or warehouse work.

But for true shipment creation, the system expects WMS work to be involved. No OOB method bypasses that.

    Hope this helps clarify!

Release to warehouse will only create work if the Wave template tells it to. Have you looked at what happens if you have no Wave templates?
