CRM Online User Cannot Modify Not That They Created

(0) ShareShare

Hi.  I have an issue with two CRM users that both have the Salesperson's security role which in our installation means that they can only modify Notes that they have created.

So Salesrep 1 created a new Account, added a Note for that Account and then transferred ownership of that Account to Salesrep2.

If Salesrep1 goes to back to that Account and wants to modify the Note that they created they get an Access is Denied error message.  At this point they can add a new Note for that Account.

We want to allow them to modify only Notes that they have created.  What do we need to change?

Thanks

Entity Notes  : change the write privilege to user level

    Hi Prashant,

First of all, thanks for responding to my post.

I do have the write privilege set to user level for Notes in the Core Records part of Security.

This works just fine until Salesrep1 assigns the record to Salesrep2.

Salesrep1 can add a new Note for this Account just not modify the Note that they created before they Assigned the Account to Salesrep2.

What I am running into has something to do with Account ownership changing.

    Thanks again.

So you want that, whenever Salesrep1  assigns an account to Salesrep2, all notes related to this account must also be assigned to Salesrep2. Is that right?

    Go to settings>>Customization>>Customize the system>>Expand Entity list>>Select & Expand Account>>Scroll down to 1:N relationship>>Select Account & Note Relationship

Double click & open and also set relationship to 'cascade' instead of parental; save & close

    Publish all customization

Nope, I want Notes that were created by Salesrep1 before ownership of the Account was transferred to remain modifiable by Salesrep1.

Ok, I will try changing the relationship and see if that fixes it.

    Thanks

Nope, I am still getting a message saying Access is Denied

Can you revert the settings from cascade to parental back.

Once done that, can you please check

    Tab:core records

Entity Notes  : change the append & append to privilege to Business Unit level

That where append and append to were set.

So I got it to work by changing the setting back to Configurable Cascading and then changing

    Assign - Cacsade None

    Share - Cascade None

    Unshare - Cascade None

    Reparent - Cascade None

I am not sure if all 4 of those had to be set to "Cascade" but that seems to work.

    Thanks for your help.
