Hello,

I need to add a column that shows the VAT amount of the line, I have highlighted it in green in the screenshot. I have tried to add line >VAT Amount line>VATAmount_VatAmountLine using the Plain text optoin, but nothing gets populated. Please can someone advise on what field to add how I would do this.

Hi, that field won't work there because VATAmount_VatAmountLine sits on the VATAmountLine dataitem, that's the temp table grouped by VAT %, one row per VAT group at the bottom, not one row per invoice line. Word can't merge a field from a different repeating group into your Lines table, so it stays blank.

There isn't a native per-line VAT Amount field in that dataset, on purpose I think, BC calculates VAT off the subtotal per VAT group to avoid the line-by-line total not matching the document total after rounding. If you want it per line anyway you'd need to extend the report in AL, add a column on the Lines dataitem doing the calc yourself, something like Amount times "VAT %" divided by 100, watch the rounding, then it shows up in the Word field picker after you publish.

You can calculate this using the following two fields; while the result may not be entirely precise, it allows you to obtain a value.

Hello,

VATAmount_VATAmountLine comes from the VAT Amount Line dataset, which is normally used for VAT totals grouped by VAT percentage, not for each individual document line, so placing it inside the line repeater can return blank or incorrect values. For a VAT amount per line, the report dataset must contain a column calculated from the document line, typically Amount Including VAT - Amount; if that column is not already available, a developer must add it through a report extension and then map that new field inside the same line repeater in the Word layout.

If they are not within the same DataItem, it means they do not belong to the same Group; this requires a redesign of the Group configuration in Layout file.
