HQ Client Unable to Open Local Datasource

Hi,

I have a store with HQ client setup. The setup had been working for over a year when suddenly it stopped working. Whenever HQ Client tries to connect to HQ server it will error out with a message stating "Cannot open local data source". To make matters even weirder, if I go into the configuration of HQ Client and click "Test Database Connection" I get a database successfully connected message.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

    Hi Andrew,

Here are some things to check:

Have you verified the Address and Port settings on the HQ Client tab in Store Operations Administrator >> File >> Configuration on this machine:

Does the Test Database Connection complete successfully on both the Database and HQ Server tabs in Headquarters Client Configuration?

    Is Headquarters Server running?

Does the Test Database Connection complete successfully on the Database tab in Headquarters Server Configuration?

Are both HQ Client and HQ Server running on this machine?

Are you using the Server Name or IP Address for the connection to the server?

I ran HQ Client as administrator in Windows, increased the timeout in RMS HQ Client from 60 to 120 but I am still having login timeouts when i try to connect HQ client. The HQ Client is running on the same PC as the SQL Server so I doubt it's a network issue. Only other thing it could be is the SQL Server itself which im currently looking into.

Hi!  The only suggestions that I can think of are making sure that you are logged in as an Administrator in Windows and increasing the time out in RMS HQ to give it longer to connect. Aside from that, its the usual checking the network and server settings, etc...
