Unable to access Report server through Network Load Balancer Cluster

ReportReport

Hi All,

I am trying to create "High availabilty Load balancing for Report Server".
I have done all the configurations but I am unable to access Report server through "Network Load Balancer Cluster".

Reporting Web service is working fine and accessable also.

Reports are being deployed also.

Can anyone tell me what is the solution for this issue?

I have seen connectivity and authentication errors related to NTLM with SSRS NLB setup when the loopback connection was not correctly set up in the Windows Registry. It is explained in the documentation, try to follow step 3 if you have missed it:

    Hi Vilmos,

    Thanks for reply.

I have already tried that step and created a new "Multi Strings" value with the name "BackConnectionHostNames" .

    Still facing same error

    Regards,

    Hassan

For the value you have to provide all your servers, and the load balancer name with computer name only, and another record with computer name including the domain name.

So if you have 2 SSRS servers and a load balancer like SSRSNLB, then you would have 4 records listed (each in a new line), 2 for your local computer and 2 for the load balancer. After changing the registry you do need to restart Windows.

You only need current machine on each registry, not both of them. And you have missed the current machine name without the domain.

    Hi Vilmos,

I have updated the registry according to your suggestion but still facing same error even after restarting the both "Report" servers.

Do you have Windows Firewall disabled for the Domain profile (or have you specifically allowed ports required for communication)? If not, try it with firewall down.

Also try to access the ReportServer URL by navigating to your load balancer, or navigating directly to one of the SSRS instances using your browser, see which one works.

    Hi Vilmos,

I have already disabled all the firewalls on both server and domain server also.

At this point I have no other idea without seeing your actual setup to check what you have missed.

I advise to go through the prerequisites list, installation guide, follow the troubleshooting guide, search for similar errors on the net to verify that you have not missed any steps required.

If you still cannot get it working, then I am sure Microsoft could help if you raise a ticket with them on LifeCycle Services or on the Customer/PartnerSource site.

    Hi Vilmos,

I have found the issue and resolved it.

The issue was that there was unknown entries for "User & Password" which I don't know from where they came in Configuration file of ReportServer.

I just removed them and restarted the SSRS service and everything working fine now.

    Thanks for your time.

    Best,

    Hassan
