Hi All,

My Dynamics GP 2010 runs on sql server 2005 sp3 developer edition and now wish to upgrade to sql server 2008r2 standard edition.

I get an error message which says i cannot upgrade because the version i am upgrading from is not supported.

Can any one tell me what to do?

Thanks.

Joegay.

Backup your databases, uninstall 2005, install 2008, re-attach your databases, upgrade functionality to 2008 level

Thanks Carl. It worked. The only thing i did not do was upgrading the functionality to 2008 because I did not know how to go about that. I only ran GP utility on the server after attaching the 2005 database and that was it.

The other I am facing is my GP runs on a 64bit server and client OS. When i try to run utility on the client, I get this error "An error occurred while using the BCP utility, Data was not correctly copied to the server. Please verify your ODBC settings and that BCP has been correctly installed. Microsoft Dynamics GP utility will now exit". Even when I ran the the Utiltiy as administrator it give the same error message.

    Did I do anything wrong.

    Please assist.

    Thanks.

check the DYNSA is the database owner: run sp_changedbowner 'DYNSA' against each GP database.

Run Utilities as administrator - right click on Utiltiies "Run As" administrator. Problem occurs on Windows Server2008.

This problem occurred on the client and not the server. can this solution suffice?

    Thanks.

If you completely unistalled SQL after detaching the databases and then reinstalled SQL you would have lost all of your SQL logins. THe users will be on the DYNAMICS and company databases but not in SQL. You needed to run the Capture_Login scripts on the 2005 instanance and then the results on the 2008 instance. As far as the clients go, turn UAC off as per this article.
