Use preset standard value on field in a page using template?

I would like to set a preset standard value in a field for the user in a page when opening it. The user needs to be able to change the value after that.

Is there any simple way without coding to do this? E.g. templates? I know there are specific customer templates, but can I use a generic template applying for all pages?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

    Hi Martin

    Can you be more specific?

Depending on the business case, multiple situations can occur.

    Master data:

Templates exists for Customer, Vendor, Item: when using correctly configured templates, you can have data pre-populated.

    Transactions:

Master data is defaulted onto you orders, so if the Master data is set correctly (Cust, Vend, Item,...) the default value will land on your transaction page.

    please enlighten us.

There is no generic template that let you create a global default template for any table in the system.

You have the templates for items, customers, vendors etc. that you can use when you create new records in those tables.

If you are looking for a no code options for adding values to a newly created record you can try to use Power Automate because there are Power Automate actions that will let you subscribe to changes in any Business Central table.  But then you will have a delay in the user interface before your default value shows up.

I think the best option for you is coding.

Hi, I don't think there is a way at the moment without any customization.

But if you change the way, for example, you can use Configuration Package to create the record then modify it in the page.

PS: As for the Power Automate solution, I hope the following information can give you some hints.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
