Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central: Bom

Hello

Does Microsoft dynamics 365 Business Central have the ability to also display boms in the requisition worksheet that are not yet certified? The reason for this question is to reduce the problem of long lead items and thus be able to order them in advance without having to wait for a final BOM.

Many thanks for considering my request.

The items that you need to order...are they purchased items? You could put replenishment information on those item or SKU cards for ordering. The other problem is that there is no demand for them through production orders because your BOM isn't being used yet.

Ben's idea of adding these particular items directly to a production order seems to be your best solution.

Robert is correct, but you can still add Items directly to the Production Order without the BOM.  Any Items added to a Firm Planned or Released Production Order will be viewed as demand by the system.  If using the planning worksheet to handle replenishment, that demand can trigger supply orders based on the quantity and date.

You can also manually issue Purchase Orders without those Items being on the Production Order, then later when they are added you can set a reservation to link the incoming purchase to the Prod. Order demand (if needed).

    I'll give you 2 answers

    1) No there is no way to look at uncertified BOM (as I understand it) to do this.

    2) This is a requirement of "Engineer to Order" aka ETO manufacturing.  Production Orders are a bad fit for that industry.  Jobs work better by using Planning Lines.  There are a few Equipment Manufacturing or ETO products in Appsource also that are designed to enhance this.

[Full Disclosure: Yes we do also have an ETO solution]
