Cash Balances

Hello,

I have been having a lot of trouble getting my Cash balance to reconcile every month.  Can someone please help me understand what the unmatched transactions are in the Reconcile to GL?  How do they relate to the differences between our ledger balance and our subledger balances?

Thank you

    Hi,

The unmatched transactions represent that group of transactions that show up as a Bank Transaction, but do not show up in the general ledger, or they are general ledger transactions that do not show up as a bank transaction. For example, if someone posts a journal entry directly to the cash account, it will be considered an unmatched transaction. Conversely, if someone posts a bank transaction, but then deletes the GL entry created therefrom, it will also be an unmatched transaction. If this is happening to you I have two recommendations. First, open your Account Maintenance window and uncheck the box 'Allow Account Entry' on your cash account. Next, go into General Ledger Setup and uncheck the box to 'Allow Deletion of Saved Transactions', this will keep people from deleting any transactions that were presented to the general ledger from subsidiary modules.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
