Sales Order Agent Creates Sales Quote but Item Line Is Empty

Hi everyone,

I’m working with the Sales Order Agent in Business Central. When the agent creates a Sales Quote, the Sales Header is created successfully, but the Item Line does not populate automatically. I need to add the item manually after the quote is created.

Error Messages

I encountered a permission error when attempting to add item_name to the sales quote for customer_name. Please assist in resolving the permissions issue so I can proceed with creating the quote

What I have verified

  • The user/agent has permissions to access:

    • Items

    • Sales Lines

    • Sales Header

    • Sales Price and related pricing tables

  • The quote header is created without any issues.

What I need help with

I would like to understand:

  1. What actions or system objects are required for the Sales Order Agent to automatically add item lines to a Sales Quote?

  2. Which permissions (tables, codeunits, or other objects) are necessary to allow the agent to create item lines automatically?

  3. Is there documentation that outlines the required permissions for the Sales Order Agent?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi, hopefully this helps a bit.

    1. You should just be able to use the standard SO - EDIT permission sets. But in my testing i've also assigned the SUPER permission set. I'd recommend assigning the SUPER set and seeing if that works. If not then it may be other configuration causing issues.

    2. D365 SALES DOC, EDIT ; D365 ITEM VIEW - these should be the main ones (besides SO - EDIT) and you will need to add any permission sets created as a result of customizations.

    3. Microsoft has documentation here: Set up Sales Order Agent - Business Central | Microsoft Learn - Not very clear because it just says to use the SO - EDIT

I'd recommend starting with SUPER access and seeing if that fixes your problems. Then you could try more restrictive permissions. If SUPER doesn't work you should check to see if you have customizations.

You may also want to look at the settings for quote and order creation. It might be worth it to try enabling "Include capable to promise" if you haven't already:

Let me know if those steps help.
