Does anybody know if there is or when there will be an updated AX 2012 installer that is compatible with Windows 8 for us ISV developers? I tried using the latest installer and an exception was thrown after clicking on Verify Requirements.

Thanks!

    Hi,

There is some issue with the compatibility of AX2012 on Win 8 specifically compatibility issue either with win installer or  .Net framework.

One thing you may try is to swap your msi.dll in system32 folder with WIn 7 msi.dll file. May be that helps.

    Good Luck.

It works just fine here, installed from scratch. You need to make sure you slipstream CU3. I have a windows 8 machine with SQL 2012 installed locally, AOS and client running.

I had some issues slipstreaming. If you tried once before, make sure to UNINSTALL the AX Setup files from installed programs. Then take a FRESH copy of the FPK or RTM iso file and put the extracted CU3 files in the correct folder. Then run the installer and it should work.

I've had issues where i had run the installer prior to slipstreaming, and whatever auto-patching the setup utility does seems to screw it up somehow, so make sure to start fresh!

    where is the CU3??

I'm unable to pass the verification process of AX 2012 on windows 8. Stuck on Windows Identity foundation. Unable to install it. The version found in kb974405 is not working.

I try the "swap your msi.dll in system32" tricks but didn't work.

Joris dG, did you get this problem?

Yes, the identity foundation stumped me too. You have to go into control panel / add-remove features and the identify foundation is in there for Win8.

FYI - Microsoft does not support AX 2012 FP1 and AX 2012 on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. See the latest AX 2012 Systems Requirements guide.
