Best browser/tool to use when creating emails utilizing dynamic fields, emails losing fonts/formatting

Hi all,

CRM has allowed us to create emails using dynamic fields pulled dynamically from CRM to personalize the messages. And for a long time the text editor for creating those emails has been a frustrating, buggy mess, especially when generating emails in a workflow. It's a little sad to see that even in D365 V9, these issues persist, with font sizes and styles changing, spaces between lines disappearing, dozens of hard returns suddenly appearing, selected fields jumping around or overwriting each other, and formatting of the dynamic fields disappearing altogether on save.

I know that some of it is browser dependent, and depends on the default font chosen in that browser. So a couple questions:

1. Does anyone have a suggestion on which browser works best for editing email messages that minimizes these problems?

2. Does anyone know of a way to restore formatting to a tag in the editor after it is lost? For example when the dynamic field {Account(Opportunity)} loses its higlighting, can't be moved as a block and turns into regular text in the editor it no longer pulls in the data but just prints the field name. Is there a way to copy it into a rich text editor or Notepad++ preserving the tags, and then copy/pasting it back in?

Thanks,

Rob

    Hi Rob,

    1. IE works the best for such task.

    2. To the best of my knowledge, there are no possible ways to copy and past it with those rich formatting. If thats possible then there would be few HTML tags with and whichh is not the case.

If you have any other questions/concerns feel free to ask me.

    Thanks,

    Jay

    1. I have used Chrome. Its ok

    2. Always reinsert the placeholders from Form assistant

    General tips:

Copy paste in native Notepad to strip all the formats. Then use it.

For line breaks, instead of pressing "Enter" press "Shift + Enter".

For maintaining fonts, type in between existing letters of word & delete/backspace the unwanted characters. Ex. "and" - start typing between n & d, then remove them

    Hi Rob Landolt,

    To answer your questions.

    1. I recommend using any of the supported web browsers for Microsoft Dynamics 365. I have a personal preference for Mozilla Firefox.
    2. Copy the text into a text editor or an integrated development environment (IDE), reformat the text, and paste it back into Dynamics 365.
