Our customer does not want to enable 'financial negative inventory' (whilst negative physical inventory' is already negative) in item model group. Valuation method is 'weighted average'.

Assuming, a product having no on-hand stock and no transaction in D365, I receive a quantity of 10 in my warehouse through a purchase order but did not invoice it. When I try to transfer some of them, say 5, by processing a shipment (Ship transfer order), I get the error "Item consumption for 5.00 cannot be updated because the cost price is known only for 0.00 in stock".
Is there a way to be able to issue/consume stock (where corresponding receipts are not financially posted yet), without having to enable the 'negative financial inventory' flag?

Hello Asad,

For inventory transaction, such as inventory adjustment, transfer order, etc., physical and financial transaction are calculated at same time.

But for the Packing Slip for Sales order or Picking list for production, physical and financial transaction are calculated separately.

If it is inventory transaction, the parameter of negative financial inventory must be enabled .

enabling financial negative inventory would allow consumption of inventory even when the incoming receipt was not fully/financially updated

So, for items which are not financially posted for their receipts, there is no way to get transfer orders and sales orders issued without having to enable the 'financial negative inventory'?

For SO, it can issue without enabling the financial negative inventory.

But for transfer order, that will consider more conditions, such as the financial inventory parameter in storage/tracking dimension groups, whether it has finanical cost before, etc. If the item is a brand new and non-transactional item as your case, system will not allow to post the shipment.
