Access self signed web service in sandbox plugin.

Posted on by 1,612

Dear All,

I have created a web service hosted on IIS web server. I have created a self sign certificate and installed it on web site on which the web service is hosted.

Query: Can I access the web service (https protocol - self signed certificate) within a sandbox plugin or Virtual entity data source in CRM Online.

Best Regards,

Abhishek Kumar

    Hi Abhishek,

I recently faced similar issue where i was trying to call unsecured webservice from my plugin, but it was throwing error, after that I hosted my web service on IIS server with SSL certificate and also with domain name (with IP address it won't work if you have SSL certificate also) so you need to have SSL certificate as well as domain name of your web service.

You can contact to your IT support team.

    Surly it will help you.

    Thanks,

    Shahbaaz

    Hi Abhishek,

You should reach out to Micrososft support for this MS is the one who controls the certificate store for CRM.

Personally I doubt they will be able to add a self signed certificate, as this impacts all organizations (being a shared environment) but you can try...

    Hi Abhishek,

I personally would not recommend this. If the certificate is not under the trusted store, then this can lead to many errors when trying to establish the connection.

I've seen this happen many times in CRM Online.

    Hope this helps!

    Radu
