In the inventory module of GP 10.0, I have added data to four of the six available user categories. I built a SmarList and am able to get the Value category on my SmartList, but I can not find a way to get the description. Because the value category is numeric, I need to be able to see the description to know what Item I am looking at. For example, the User Category 1 is Reporting Category. The values are 1,2,3,4,5,6 and the description is Long sleeves, short sleeves, unlined long pants, bermuda shorts, lined long pants, sleeveless shirt. The SmartList will give me the number but that does not do me any good as some of my User Categories have up to 700 items.

I tried SmartList Builder and still could not find the description.

Can anyone help?

Unless I am misunderstanding the question, you should be able to simply use the default Items SmartList in GP (under Inventory). Each of your Category names (that you selected on the Inventory Control Setup window) will be an available column in that SmartList. The values returned should be the actual values, not their numbers.

If you look in the item master, IV00101, you will see the 6 item category columns. So if Smartlist is only pulling the category number and not the category, I would use Excel to pull the data straight from the IV00101 table. Just set up and ODBC connection to your company database using Windows credentials.
