Adding Custom attributes in financial report ?

(1) ShareShare
ReportReport

Hello everyone I am new to Financial Reporting and its report designer, I have a question is it possible to add custom attributes by customization?

I have developed a custom financial report that can be drilled down, currently I have a requirement to add a specific field (transaction level attribute) related to vendor but that is not available in column definition attribute list so I am wondering if its possible through any customization at any level where these attributes are filled up in the designer.
I know the Customer and Vendor option in financial reporting setup allow for more attributes specifically related to them but the field I require is not available in the list.

I know this might affect the performance of financial reporting but still is it possible?
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

    Yes, it is possible.

First, ensure that the custom field you want to add is created in the appropriate entity. You can do this by navigating to Settings -> Customizations -> Customize the System and then adding the new field to the vendor entity.

After creating the custom field, you need to ensure that it is included in the data source used by your financial report. This typically involves modifying the report's underlying query or dataset to include your new attribute. In the Financial Report Designer, you can now access your custom field. You may need to refresh the dataset or re-open the report designer to see the new attribute in the column definitions.

While the process can be a bit technical, it is definitely achievable. Hope my answer helps

Hi MichaelTorres  thanks for replying  , I would like to know if you have worked with this approach yourself in a similar scenario of Financial reporting because by your response I am assuming(I might be wrong) you have presented the solution for a general reporting scenario like SSRS where we can easily access underlying query and make changes into it, I could not catch the underlying query for Financial Reporting, I believe its working is a bit different from other reporting types.

Actually my field is not custom its (RemittanceLocation) out of the box and already present in the relevant tables like LedgerJournalTrans which are responsible for other financial attributes .
I called it custom as its not available out of the box in designer.

Can you be specific with the query or any class where these attributes are mapped if you have worked with this scenario?

Agree with jac_rod.  Microsoft has never exposed MR/FR code to enable customization.
