Option Set and removing values from view

Hey

We have a number of option sets with users who are no longer with the organisation.  I require them to remain on records for audit purposes in exisitign records but to be unavailable in the list when users input new records.  Some of the lists are quite long and having obsolete people in them makes them longer than they need to be.

Any ideas to assist please are welcomed.

Thanks Darren.

RE: Option Set and removing values from view

    Hi Darren,

I'm wondering why are you using options sets (rather than lookups?) Only active users would be showing up in the lookups by default..

With the optionsets, you can't delete those options if you want to keep the audit history. You can dynamically(using javascripts) remove some options from the optionsets on form load.. your audit history will be preserved, then, and your users won't be able to select those options.

The only question is what happens when that "inactive" option is currently selected.. Well, you can tweak the javascript to keep such options (if it's a currently selected value, do not remove from the option list).

Here is a link FYI (remove option client-side method.. note that it won't remove that option from the server):
