Tracking Mail Merge Activities

Hi,

when using the CRM 4 Mail Merge from within outlook, I can choose for the created letters to be tracked as activities in CRM. The generated document is attached to the letter activity created during the process.

I would like to know, from which Mail Merge Template the document was originaly created. once it is attached to the letter activity,

Any ideas around?

I have gone thru plugins, but can't find anything leading back to the mail merge templates name.

    Hi Norbert,

    When you generate the mail merge with any activity then, you can change the subject of the Activity by clicking on the "Activity Details" button and change the subject of activity.

    We cannot change the name of the mail merge document.

    Hi Sam,

    thank you for the feedback.

    I am aware of the possibility to set the activity details thru that extra dialog.

    What I am trying to archive, is updating a custom field in i.e. the letter entity with the name of the template used. This should be possible by catching the create message on the annotation entity and then going back to the letter via the annotation.objectid lookup attribute.

    But well, I haven't figured out, how to get the name of the template used in the mail merge process.

    Hi Norbert,

    If you need to associate Mail Merge Template used with the letter you will not be able to track down it directly but you can create relationship between Mail Merge Template and Letter and at the time of creating activity from mail merge document you can assign template used manually with the letter using Activity Details option.
