Filter CRM Search Results

I am being asked to create custom views in CRM that will be visible to only the executives and no one else. Simple enough, I created the views in Advanced Find and shared it with them. I also modified the default views in CRM so that they exclude everyone else based on certain entity values. What I am finding, however, is that the main entity "Search Results" box cannot be restricted. If I type a record number, that record will pull up regardless of view. Is there any way to restrict the results? Thanks in advance.

Nathan

You should add those same filters in Quick find view also. This will restrict the search results.

    Hi ,

Its expected behavior , by default there is only one quick find view per entity . So you can customize quick find view with adding or removing column.

    Hi Nathan,

To restrict the search results, you need to change the Quick Find view and add the relevant conditions in the "Add find columns".

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ngetz,

For your requirement there are 2 way that I can think of. 1 is you need to use security role (entity view to be user) but this one is very complicated and very costly. The easy part is Ravi answer. Custom your quick find view based on specific criteria.

For example you need to filter if Position of User is Executive, then you allow them to see it. But this one also has limitation because we use Out of the box feature.

Thanks for your help. As suggested I am going to go with Ravi's solution to restrict the search results based on fields in the entity, as using security approach would be very difficult. Thank  you.

I think we are talking about "Edit filter criteria" option like any other view. "Add find columns" will just use those fields for search the textbox content.

Like I already answered, search will not be using any default views or custom views, this is just about adding the view filters in Quick find view too like the same way you added in Adv. Find for personal views or default views.
