Econnect message seems to disappear

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We are trying to setup a new version of Great Plains on a new server.  We send messages from our biztalk server out thru econnect.  We have a GP app server, with the database on a different machine.

We can see the message go out, seems to be picked up on the GP server... it shows as received.

But, we aren't seeing anything else happen.   No errors, in the logs on the app server or on the database side

We know it's not showing up in the GP database.   It seems to just disappear

Any thoughts?  ideas?

any place we can go to look?

    I ran the profiler, but I'm not seeing anything happening on the database.  my setting for the queue are as below

    I see the message go thru the queue, but I'm not seeing any messages in the Event log.  I only see when I restart the process

    I'm only seeing SA operations on the DB

    <add key="eConnect.BackOffice.ConnectionString" value="data source=GPDBSRV;initial catalog=ABC;integrated security=SSPI;persist security info=False;packet size=4096" />

       <add key="eConnect.Incoming_Queue" value="GPSRV\Private$\econnect_incoming14" />

       <add key="eConnect.Transactional_deadletter_Queue" value="0" />

       <add key="eConnect.Schema.Type" value="" />

       <add key="eConnect.Schema" value="" />

       <add key="eConnect.LogAll" value="2" />

       <add key="eConnect.Threads" value="0" />

     </appSettings>

    It does matter, because if you are seeing the message leaving the queue, then we need to understand if the eConnect procedure on the SQL Server is firing. Please run the SQL Profiler Trace as previously suggested.

    It shows up in the MSMQ on the event viewer - end2end log - 3 separate log entries

    Message came over network

    Message with ID {1dbb6aa1-32f3-43b0-9a5f-82cb1a111f5c}\1987019 was put into queue gpsrv\private$\econnect_incoming14

    Message received

    It doesn't appear to show up, on the event logs for Econnect.

    should it be showing, that it did something with the message?

    the message appears to disappear from the message queue

    but, I should also point out, that we are seeing this on the GP App server

    the database is on a different server... if that matters

    When you say, "seems to be picked up on the GP Server... it shows as received", how did you determine this? If you run a SQL Server Profiler trace, do you see the eConnect stored procedure firing? Setup a T-SQL stored procedure trace to see if you can tell what's happening when the stored procedure fires (if at all).
