Goodmorning (CET) fellas.

I recently started working with Navision (i'm a newbie).  I'm used to work on Excel and VBA and I found usefull the possibilty to send data and formats from NAV to excel since on excel I'm able to analyse and manipulate those datas quickly. Sadly I got stuck when it's time to send those data back in to the NAV software. Can someone explain me which is the process needed for export a file from excel and import it in NAV?

Thanks for your much needed help :D

It depends on the kind of data you need to send back to NAV. The easiest and fastest way is to copy from Excel and paste into NAV, but it only works in some pages.

Thanks Miguel, and forgive my lack of accuracy to describe my issue.

So basically I have to book invoices on NAV and I recive the summary of all the invoices that I have to book in an excel format.

What i did is "print and send" to excel the page on Nav that I have to fill for each invoice. What I obtained are 5 worsheets and everyone with lines to be filled by the data of the invoice (inv. num. - date - VAT etc...). I was able to create a simple macro that for each line of my invoice filled the 5 worksheets.

But I do not have the possibility to copy and paste from excel to NAV for every single worksheet. What i'm looking for is a way to "send back" the format from excel to NAV with all the new datas.

Based on your tag I assume you are using NAV 2013. For extracting the data you could/should use ODATA as that would give you a nice table format in Excel of the invoices.

In terms of getting data in, you cannot just copy and paste back into NAV. You need to write an import routine that will take your file and import it into NAV and run the necessary validations. That requires writing C/AL code.

    Hi Kirpo,

Have you tried using RapidStart Services for Micorosoft Dynamics NAV? You can export in an excel format the tables with the fields corresponding to the data that you need to import into NAV.

For example, in the case of importing Purchase Invoices you would need to import an excel file for the purchase document header (Table 38) and another for the purchase lines (table 39)
