Can I use SSL/HTTPS with Email with Custom CNAME?

Hi community,

is it possible in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Marketing to use https URL in combination with an customized CNAME?

I'm just asking because in a few Marketing tools it's not possible and we have to start using a CNAME for our Marketing-Communcation. But that only makes sense if we can use it with https URLs.

Can somebody help me with that question?

I did't find a informative answer by searching in the internet.

Regards.

    Hi Nya,

    thanks for your reply.

I know how Clickdimesnion handles it. But my question was regarding the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Marketing suit.

Because of security matters we need to use https links in our mailings and with clickdimensions it it just possible to do that if you use the deafult CNAME from Clickdimensions. But how does Microsoft Dynamics Marketing handles that?

    Best Regards,

    Bianca

    Hi,

If you want to combine your CNAME with the secure URL for Emails, then you have to use the default CNAME. Because URLs with click dimensions can only be used with HTTPS/SSL if you used the default CNAME.

Therefore, any Emails with default CNAME can use HTTPS for the URLs within the Email.

I hope this will be helpful.

    Hi Bianca,

It cannot be achieved OOTB. Please refer to:

Domain authentication (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs

Even the documentation of ClickDimensions solution also states

“You should never add HTTP or HTTPS to the beginning of your CNAME when saving it in the DNS Settings. Doing so will cause your email links to break as we handle the HTTP protocol on the backend for you.”
