AX2012R2 (no CU) move data between companies / copy companys

Posted on by 2,721

Hi

we are currently running AX2012R2 (no CU !) We now want to create a new company in AX2012 as a copy  of an existing live company.

Any hints?

Thx

Pirrmin

I am agree with andre, Please use DIXF "Copy Company" functionality to copy the data. It is very simple and error free. AX 2012 having n-numbers of relation with recid as FK. there are OOB entity count 160. if you need any extra entity, please create through custom wizard and proceed.

    Hi Pirmin,

This is very cumbersome. You can try to install the Data Import/Export Framework using e.g. the CU7 or above setup media. I have not done this myself, but understood that others tried this before.

This could help, but there are not sufficient entities to copy a complete setup.

The largest challenge is about having foreign key relations which are not handled if you just copy the contents of setup tables.

Simple option is to leverage DAT and DEF files to export and then import data.  Refer technet.microsoft.com/.../gg731814.aspx.  In the definition, remove shared tables and system tables
