3/4 Clients not connected?

(0) ShareShare

Long story short, we have 4 stores, with headquarters being in the same location (with same routers/internet etc) as store 2.

Store 2 is the only one connecting to HQ

We recently had time warner come in to service our internet, and I know they did something to the router, which is what I think the issue is.

I don't know how to find out what router or internet or ip or whatever it is that the clients connect to, to find out if they match or are connected.

Someone said something about turning port forwarding on, but I haven't been able to figure out/find where to do that, as all the help links I've clicked on have access to things I can't get to through the router.

There really should be a troubleshooter for this thing, lol

Any help is appreciated, as we have been down for months and it is super inconvenient. :/

Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

It sounds that #2 is the server and the rest are connecting to it.

Do you have other problems like connecting to printers or the internet?

Remember to write down any changes or do a restore point in you need them later.

If you can connect to internet on this machine you may have to do the next step on one of the others,  if it works then do the rest. As you said that some company did some work did you change Provider? Then you have a new IP and the others don't know it.

Connection status, open control panel > Network Connections > your connection's name > Diagnose. This may fix it.

If not, get the IP address automatically, Open control panel > Network connections > your connections name > Properties > find "Internet protocol V4" > turn on "Obtain IP address Automatically" and same for DNS server.

On #2, check if Fire Wall allows HQ to go through. Port forwarding is done through Fire Wall, Open Fire Wall > Allow Programs to Communicate > Check that HQ is allowed, if not > Add Program > select it from the list.

Well, there are two computers at store #2, one being HQ, and the other just another POS machine designated to connect to the HQ one.

No problems connecting to internet or printer for either ones. (Or actually one any of the computers in the chain,  they simply can't connect to the client)

I whole heartedly agree with the new ip possibility.

I'm on my way to try these things now, thank you so much for your help.  :)

Soooo. That didn't work, we tried it on the HQ computer (The front one was already set up as such)

The person who did the "Switch ip to find one automatically, didn't write down the old numbers, so when we tried that, and it failed, (It actually messed up connection with the one working computer FML.) We didn't have the numbers to put in to try and put it back the way it was. I tried using CMD to pull up ipconfig/all and using those numbers, but apparently they are not sufficient because HQ Client at #2 is still down. :c

    Its saying

"Connection to socket was unsuccessful: Message Timeout"

"An error was detected, connection will be aborted."

DO NOT clean your hard disks until every thing work OK. the old settings are saved.

Restore to a point before the switch
