Open Opportunities

Hi guys,

Is there any way I can run a report to show the open opportunities for the same date last year? For example I need to see how many opportunities were open on 04/11/2014 so I can compare it with today.

You can easily use Advanced find in CRM.

Can you please be more specific Munavvar? I'm quite familiar with the Advanced Find in CRM but can't see any way to do it.

    Thank you

just choose the creation date of opportunity equal this date in the last year OR today.

That won't show me all Open opportunities for last year for that specific day. It will only show the opportunities created in that specific day... if this is what you are suggesting?

you want to know what opportunities were open in that period, even if they are not open anymore?

if yes, I'm not sure if this is possible.

Jaoal, yes, this is what I'm trying to achieve. I need this to do a yoy comparison and it seems to be impossible indeed. I was hopping someone knows a solution or workaround for this.

You can try CreatedOn - Last Year in advanced find.

    Hi BobbyC,

There is no way for CRM to answer this question on its own because its database only shows you the state of your data today.  For example, OOTB CRM will tell you the current statecode of an opportunity, but it cannot explicitly tell you when that opportunity had other statecodes.

Yes, there is auditing... but you cannot easily report off of CRM's auditing data.

To be able to answer a question like yours, you either need custom auditing functionality that tracks these changes in a separate table on which you can report, or you need a data warehouse that you populate on a regular interval via SSIS jobs.

Once you have either of these, then you still can't run your report on any historical data before the day you set it up, because you haven't started tracking/auditing anything until that day!

yea, what you can do is to start to monthly(for example) export the records from your charts or reports, so you will have the data as it was at that time, every month, so you can compare the way you want, that's the only way I can see.
