The use of Standard Dashboards in Marketing

Hi Community,

does someone have any experience with standard dashboards functions in Dynamics 365 Marketing that literally make sence and gives important data back that happen in marketing?

I have the feeling that the standard dashboards function have literally no function of providing real data insights  - like segments by owner - emails by owner etc. really can't see any value in this.
I know there is also the option of PowerBI and implementing these dashboards in Dynamics 365 Marketing with all insights of open rates, click rates, etc.
But I especially want to know for the standard.

Happy about any comments on this!

Best regards

Joannis

You are correct, the default marketing dashboards are almost entirely useless, and to get meaningful data you have to join a thousand dots. That process should be much simpler than it is

Marketing dashboards retrieve data from multiple sources in real-time and display it in a single location. And in this context, we have two categories of data: interaction data that indicates how customers have interacted with marketing strategies and data profiles that include contact data, events, etc. Now, I manage my company's website created by Web Design Vancouver. At first, it was difficult for me to interpret all the chaotic data in the database, so I used a marketing dashboard to manage them.

    Hi Joannis,

Could you let me know what is "important Dashboard"?

As per my understanding, there are also two types of dashboard: System Dashboard and Personal Dashboard.

    > System Dashboards are created by a System Administrator or System Customizer, and are available to everyone in the organization.

The link I shared it about to create system dashboard, we create this type of dashboard in Customizations.

    > Personal Dashboards are those that a User can create for themselves, and are only viewable by that User (or Users they “share” the Dashboard with).

We create the personal dashboard via New button of dashboard area in Marketing app.(or in Sales Hub app.)

In addition to above dashboard types, another point is that we can also allow specific dashboards to be shown in specific app.

For example: in App designer, we can see that only 10 dashboards are enabled to Marketing app by default.

Therefore, I think an important dashboard is based on your own business requirements.

Even though those two types of dashboards are created via different menu, but process to build/design system dashboard and personal dashboard are same.

You could refer to tutorial video of the following link to create custom dashboard.

(It is recommended that keeping the existing default dashboards and create new custom dashboard.)

RE: The use of Standard Dashboards in Marketing

    Hi Joannis,

In Dynamics Marketing, there are two different type of data:

    Profile data:

It is stored in the organizational database and includes the entities and records that you see, edit, and create when working directly in Dynamics 365 Marketing.

These include common entities like contacts, accounts, leads, events, customer journeys, and more.

    Interaction data:

It is stored in the marketing-insights service database and includes information about how your contacts interacted with your marketing initiatives, including email opens, email clicks, event registrations, page submissions, and more.

You can see this type of information when you look at the insights built into Dynamics 365 Marketing, but you can't create these records nor view them directly.

The following article listed insights data:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/insights-glossary

In summary, records that we can directly create or edit can be regarded as profile data.

    ---------------------------------------

Therefore, the examples you given: segments by owner - emails by owner, actually they are profile data instead of insights data,

we can create chart to aggregate those data, then add it to existing dashboards or custom dashboard.

Please refer to the article below to know how to work with chart and how to create or edit dashboard:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customerengagement/on-premises/customize/create-edit-dashboards

    Regards,

    Clofly
