HI Experts,
I do not understand why a Business Central Team Member is not able to insert lines in Job Journal, while this BC Team Member can add time in time sheet to a job.
What is the logic here ? I would really know why it is built like this.
Unfortunately I'm discovering that the timesheet logics for Job is a litle bit tricky : Team Member has to enter time for a job tak, Approver has to approve, and only after that, Projet manager, or higher licensed can send it to Job Journal for this time to be posted in job register and available in Job Ledger entry and then impact Job Planning lines.
This is the reason why I do not understand Business Central Choice to do not let team member to post directly to Job Journal.
Thank in advance for any reply.

Thank you Inge. When my idea will be clear and my knowledge about business central improved, I will send a clear post about this need.
Many thanks for your helpful reply Josh. What I'm seeing is that the behavior is consistent and it is helping me to think about a solution.
Hi, just adding some info.
Dynamics 365 Business Central: Team Members license: https://yzhums.com/28442/
Hope this helps as well.
Thanks.

Sometimes it is hard to understand the reasoning behind the licensing policies that the software vendors put together.
The idea behind the team member is that it is a low cost limited user.
You can post an idea to Microsoft and ask if they are willing to review this policy in the case you describe.
Hi,
For this pls read TEAM member License permission. If it is there, pls raise query to Microsoft Support Center.

it's certainly not a 1 size fits all area of the system. The job journal does not have an approval process surrounding it so that could be viewed as a potential reason. Others would be that some orgs want to have the ability to approve at job level. This is possible because you can assign a "Person Responsible" to a job and they can then approve timesheets for their jobs. If you want to go direct you could avoid using BC as the system that logs the data and then batch import to a job journal for processing.
Many users sending data into journals can often get messy too. You would need a batch per user to stop them from tripping each other up. At least the TS model is cleaner in that sense and available on the mobile app. A job journal would not be.
