Saving Text into a String Array

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi,

I have created a text input form in Dexterity and I wanted to try to save the text in the same way that the SOP_Comment_Entry form saves text.  I am new to dex, but I have been pretty successful with creating my forms in Dex and using VSTools for coding (since I am more familiar with this).

I would like to know if there is a way, whether in VB or Dex that I can input this text and then save it into an array of 4 string fields and write those fields back into my table.

Ultimately, this string array will be added to a report in RW.  I have tried to use just the text but the text doesn't wrap on the report.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Aaron

    Hi Aaron

    A text field in the body of a text report will wrap for you.  But that is not normally what you want.

    Look at the RW_ParseString for parsing strings from Report Writer, parameters:

    in string IN_string;    { String Field to Parse }
    in integer IN_characters;  { Number of Characters per Line }
    in integer IN_line;    { Line Number to Return }

    Or look at Field_ParseText() command in Dexterity (which is what RW_ParseString() uses).
