Item Tracking, significant number series.

Hello: I am looking for a 'significant numbering system' for our Item Tracking configuration and am wondering if I have missed an important configuration moment!!

Inbound product: I would like to be able to assign Inbound Lots (mostly Purchase receipts) a significant number series that would include the Item number as a prefix followed by a 'next number suffix'; we are trying to minimize confusion and improve our physical management of inbound material.

EXAMPLE of a 'desired Lot No' would be A104-001, A104-002 ...

Outbound product (finished goods): using same prefix-suffix concept as above we would like to see our Production Order as the prefix followed by a 'next number suffix' each production order can have multiple Lots.

EXAMPLE would be W0123-01, W0123-02.

I would prefer a configuration over a customization effort. Have I missed something? Thanking everyone in advance!!

Ernie,

You can assign the No. Series to the Lot No., but you requirement is unique having Item No. as preceding and that is not possible with a configuration, you have to customize to achieve your requirement.
