Dynamics GP 2013 not showing fonts in PDF

New install of Dynamics GP 2013 on Win7-64. Installed 32 bit MS Office. Installed Adobe Acrobat Standard XI. I turned OFF the option "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." in Adobe PDF printer properties. When I send to PDF, the PDF is created and sent to Outlook as an attachment. The problem is that the PDF shows only boxes as though some font was missing (looks like font placeholders I think). Opening the PDF in Standard or Reader gives the same result. What can I do to get fonts to show properly?

    I know PDF can embed the fonts in the document to make them available to machines that do not have the fonts that the machine generating the document has.

    If you get the boxes it would indicate to me that the required font is not on the machine and it is not embedded in the document.

    So on the surface this looks like a PDF writer issue. I would search for more information on the settings on the print driver and in PDF forums too to seek an answer. I would read that you should really be using document fonts as the system does not have the font, which is the other way around to the settings you have set. I'm guessing you have already tried that though!

    What if you print to the screen first, then click the print button and select Adobe PDF as the printer - do you get the same results? Is this happening for everything in GP, or only modified reports?

    This happens the same whether I use the print button or send to pdf. I was using the built-in Trial Balance report. I did check PDF Forums and came up empty so I burnt a support call to Dynamics. They told me to add three lines to the DEX.ini file. This worked. Here are the lines:

    FontCourier New=Lucida Console

    Tolerance=-1

    MinMilHeight=100

    They said this could be changed to other fonts than Lucida but since this looked fine we just stayed with it.

    Interesting. I've never seen that be needed and none of my Dex.ini files have those lines.  Thanks for sharing the solution and glad you got it fixed!

    New one on me too, although David explains it here.

    The font must be non-proportional
