I am getting the error codes 0x80040217 and 0x80048306 when I attempt to save an email when it has a template applied to it. I have not been able to consistently replicate 0x80040217, but it is the one the client provided. 0x80048306 is defined as a security role issue, but we get it when using the System Admin role. We don't get any errors trying to save emails with no template applied to it.
Error code 0x80040217 is related to the server, it means you can't verify through the server.
And error code 0x80048306 is as you described, it is a permission error.
So I'm guessing if you have additional customization to save the email template elsewhere (e.g. SharePoint).
Or check if the same problem occurs with all your templates, such as personal templates and organizational templates.
