How to make a field get filled in by default based on another field?

Posted on by 2,645

I have an entity called, "Opportunity" (renewal and new)

I also have an entity called "Segment"

There is a field called, "Go Live Date" on the Opportunity entity that has a date in it.  When the user clicks the + on that form, it takes them to the Segment entity where there is also a Go Live Date field.  When the Segment entity comes up, the user wants the Go Live Date to be automatically filled in with the Go Live Date that is coming from the Opportunity entity and also have the ability to override that field.  I am not sure how to do this, so any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

You might be able to use this technique to get at that mapping to edit it:
