Hi, In Ax 2009, i have used filepath EDT and got the local file path. But in AX 7, as it is deprecated and it involves in blob storage , i couldn't get the local filepath. I am able to get the URL , is there any possibility to get local file path in AX 7 ?

    Hi Veeraselvi Mathiazhagan,

You can send file to temporary blob storage were it could be accessible by URL

sertandev.wordpress.com/.../how-to-work-with-files-in-ax-7-part-2-browse-and-download-files-stored-in-db-attach-files-to-new-document-management or read it to a stream and send to 3rd party

Hi, thank you. I need to store the filepath in a table for future use, if i use that URL i couldn't use it in future as it is temporary. Is there any way to have a permanent path using blob?

As I already told you on my blog (where you asks the same question below the post about file upload in AX 7), storing data locally isn't a feasible design (and it wasn't in AX 2009 either).

Imagine that you store a file at path C:\file.txt on AOS1 and save the path in database. Then AOS2 will read the record from DB and will try to open C:\file.txt, which will fail, because there is no such file on AOS2. Also don't forget that the VM can be dropped (because of a failure, changing size of the VM etc.) and you would lose your files.

You need a shared storage and using Azure blobs is the standard way in AX 7. If you attach files to records, for example, they get stored in Azure blobs by default. There is nothing temporary on this solution.
