Back up, Restore and Updates D365 CE

I’m in the process of carrying out a Back-up, restore on our Dev Environment.

I’ve been reading through the MS documentation Back up and restore environments - Power Platform | Microsoft Docs

Just want to get a better understanding of what this will actually restore.  I know it will only restore 7 days’ worth of retained data, unless you create a new Prod environment.

In the Dev environment I have a number of applications

I assume it will restore all these applications?

I also noticed I have a few apps that can be updated  (These are available in Live also)

Linkedin Sales Navigator for D365

MS Dynamics 365 CRM Hub

Send Customer Voice Survey from D365

and one that as failed

Microsoft Flow Extensions

Is it always prudent to carry out the updates when available and before any restore??

Regards

Chris

    Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your reply.  I've recently taken over the admin role for D365 CE and noticed that there are a few updates that are still waiting to be run.

I'll will carry these out, across our three environments over the next few days.

Not sure if you will know this or if this is the correct forum but we also have three environments specifically for Power Apps.  I assume these are backed up the same as the D365 environments.  Some of these do have Flows associated with them.  Not all are connected to a Dataverse Data source.

    Regards

    Chris

    hey Chris.

    1. Remember that Microsoft performs automatic backups constantly on your environment.

    2. it restores everything that was on the environment, and that was packaged (or in a solution). If you perform a restore and you have PowerAutomate/PowerApps not in a solution, you might loose them.

    3. UPdates should be done as soon as possible, but always testing first their impact on a sandbox environment.

    4. Yes, you can carry out the updates and, in case of emergency, go with the restore.  IN case of issue, you can also open a support request to Microsoft.

    Regards
