when I opened store opration administrator  under the configuration  data test is successfull and I can open POS and manger on sever no problem But when I  click on administrator to connect the data i get error "to connect this server use must use sql server management stdio or sql server management object(smo)"

    Harjit,

You must install the SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Componets from here, about 1/3 of the way down:

     http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=b33d2c78-1059-4ce2-b80d-2343c099bcb4&displaylang=en

The x86 version is for Windows 32 bit, x64 is for 64 bit. Don't mess with the IA64 version.

When you run it, you can select all of the options, but all you really need is just the line ending in SQL-DMO  which I think is the second one down.

If you OS is 2003 or early version then the SQL Server Backward Comparability will work fine if you have higher version like 2008 it will not work and i am still searching for a different solution.

Anyway Link for BC 2005 is : download.microsoft.com/.../SQLServer2005_BC.msi
