Hi Expert,
I would like to seek for advice.
The Production will request material from warehouse if the shop floor bin insufficient stock.
My understand is to setup the item flushing method as forward hence when released production order it will consumed.
Every work center will keep stock in shop floor bin and it will replenishment if the stock is running low.
Production will take from shop floor bin for consumption.
May I know in this case, how do I setup my warehouse in work center ? and item flushing method ?
Regards,
Wei Ching
your question has no easy answer, but here are some suggestions
you need to use pick +forward or pick+backward for a directed location. and from what I know both method doesn't support routing link
Hi TabrezAjaz
Thank you for your advice.
Yes, I has been set advance warehouse which required pick, Required put away and Direct Put away and Pick.
I also create work center warehouse for shop floor, To and from Production Bin Code.
At the same time, I assign routing link for Work Center and Production BOMs.
#3. If the Item select "Forward" flushing method, on the released production order it will consumed from the Open Shop Floor Bin right ? I still need to create warehouse pick if insufficient stock ?
#4. Will you recommended to assign the same bin for Open Shop Floor Bin and To-Production Bin ?
#5. Anyway to Replenish the shop floor bin according to the material requisition ?
Hi @weiching,
Based on the case you described, here are some steps you can follow to set up your warehouse and item flushing method in Business Central:
1. Create a Warehouse:
You can create a warehouse that is linked to the work center where the production takes place. To create a warehouse, go to the “Warehouses” page and click on “New”. Enter the required details, such as the warehouse name, location, and address, and save the record.
2. Set up the Work Center: Once you have created the warehouse, you can set up the work center by specifying the shop floor bin where the stock will be kept. To do this, go to the “Work Centers” page and select the relevant work center. Then, click on “Bin Contents” to specify the shop floor bin and the initial stock level.
3. Set up the Item Flushing Method: To ensure that the production order consumes the required quantity of materials from the warehouse, you should set up the item flushing method as “Forward”. This means that the materials will be consumed in the order they were received, starting with the oldest batch. To set up the item flushing method, go to the “Item Card” page and select the relevant item. Then, go to the “Replenishment” tab and select “Forward” from the “Flushing Method” drop-down list.
4. Create a Production Order: Once you have set up the warehouse, work center, and item flushing method, you can create a production order. When you release the production order, Business Central will automatically reserve the required quantity of materials from the warehouse. If the shop floor bin has insufficient stock, the production will request the materials from the warehouse.
5. Replenish the Shop Floor Bin: If the stock in the shop floor bin is running low, you can replenish it by transferring stock from the warehouse. To do this, you can create a transfer order from the warehouse to the shop floor bin. This will ensure that the shop floor bin always has sufficient stock for production.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with.
