Is there a way to enter a standard journal entry or payables distribution based on a fixed dollar amount?

Example - I do a journal entry every month to amortize insurance premiums.  The amount is allocated to 40 different cost centers and the dollar amount per cost center is the same every month.  I can't see any way to do this in Great Plains other than setting it up as a fixed allocation based on percentages.  The percentage distribution is not a valid methodology because some times a dollar amount will change in one cost center but all of the others remain the same.

Likewise, there are certain payments each month that are allocated in a similar manner.

In both cases, staff spends a lot of time keying in the account distributions manually each month.

Any suggestions are welcome!

We have some similar situations involving some accrued expenses.  In our case some of these are managed with Excel spreadsheets.  When the spreadsheet reflect the numbers correctly we import to Great Plains using Integration Manager.

    Richard,

I agree, this reads like a perfect recurring batch transaction!

Would not setting up recurring batches in GL and AP accomplish what you need? This way all you need to do each month is change the ones that need to be changed and the others just get posted.
