Installing Integration Manager 11

My company recently just upgraded from GP 10 to GP 2010.  With that upgrade, my company also puchased the add-on Integration manager. I  installed the Integration Manager for Dynamics GP on one of my client machines.  This is a brand new installation -- my company has never used integration until this upgrade.  Therefore,  the database is empty.

I followed the instructions, but I think I am missing something.  When I open the Dynamics GP software and go to Tools --> Integrate --> Integration Manager the words are greyed out.  Is this because the database is empty or is there an additional step for Dynamics to see the add-on.  I am currently running Integration Manager 11.00.1767.

Thanks for any assistance
Debbie

    Have you enter revised GP registration keys that include Integration Manager. Also, check your dex.ini and make sure these two lines are in there:

    IMPath=C:\program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\Integration Manager\Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.IntegrationManager.exe

    IMExecpath=C:\program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\Integration Manager\Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.IntegrationManager.exe.IMRun.exe

    You may need to adjust the path and name but you get the idea. Just point to where exe files actually reside.

    Also, are you trying to launch IM from the same machine on which it was installed? There is a dex component to integration manager. The Dynamics.set should have product 105

    IntegrationManager included.

    Check security too.

    What nobody has told you yet, is that you can launch just the integration manager product.  Then go to Tools>>Registration and enter in your registration keys.

    BTW, you don't need to go thorugh Great Plains.  You can launch Integration Manager and as long as you have the GP company that you want to integrate into open, then you can integrate into Great Plains.

    And in fact, once it is installed it is reocmmended that you open IM first (not through Great Plains) and put in your registration keys and if you want to change the Tools>>Options so that you can have shared integrations amoung all of your users.  (you may want to copy out the file that you originally created and move it to this shared location).

    Susan is absolutely correct about the launch capabilities!

    You can launch IM from outside of the rich client, but you shouldn't have to. Personally, I do not think it is desirable to use this method. Not all users are comfortable with the IM user interface. Most of the users shouldn't be looking at it. "Run Integration" is all they should be interested in.

    Another thing. It's not as simple as copying over the file anymore. You need to set the user file specifics in IMUser_Data.xml

    There's always something to complicate things :)

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
