Import from on-premise to Dynamics365 - mapping to Disabled Users

Hello,

I am part of a migration from 2013 on-premise to Dynamics 365.

I am importing activities (emails etc) and am running into issue with the import of activity parties.

Some of our data is years old and some activity parties have left the organisation and so are no longer on our AD so I cannot even temporarily enable them for purposes of the import. If any of these defunct Users are in e.g. the "To" of "From" field of an email then the record will not import (via Kingswaysoft)

Could I ask our admins to create dummy accounts for these Users temporarily. I am presuming that as long as the User fullnames concur then they will import?

Many thaks for any assistance or ideas.

Best wishes

- Seamus

    Seamus,

You can create "Dead Souls" users. Check this post on how you can do it - butenko.pro/.../

Andrew, could I just confirm 3 things...

(1)the business unit can just be the name since we are using a text lookup?

(2)None of the Users we are bringing over have a windowslive id - so can I just forget about that?

    (3) I should copy and then overload the parent Salesperson role to legislate for any security issues e.g. with custom entities?

    Thanks very much once again.

Oh,..and finally will the stub users be listed separately on the target, in the Disabled Users View, or will they appear amongst all the AD Users in the Enabled Users View?

    Seamus,

Business unit can be the text but it has to be resolved to the BU that you have in your CE.

WindowsLiveId is the field that is required so you can put there anything but the field has to be there as far as I remember.

You will have to apply changes to existing Salesperson role because it's used by default (I don't know why - Microsoft's magic).

Stub users will be under disabled users.
