Customize "Convert Lead..." function to copy a custom field.

Hi all,

We are customizing a CRM 4.

We want to use Leads and the function of "Convert Lead...".

The problem we have is that we have created a custom field on Lead entity and we'd like that this value (in Lead) copies into the new Account created

¿Is there any way to configure it?

Thanks in advance.

    Yes, there is a way:

Go to the 1:n relations in the entity lead (customizations). Switch to "Mapping" and add one by clicking on "New". Select the attribute you wish to copy on the left side, then select the attribute of the account where you want to copy the value to, click OK and Publish the lead entity. This should do the trick.

    Frank,

I have the same situation.  I wish to carry my custom account number from the lead form to the account form when I convert a lead to an account.  I go to lead form and 1:N to create mapping.  I choose lead on the left, but do not see the attribute from account I wish to create the mapping to.  In fact, I do not see any attributes of account.  I can only enter the name of a custome attribute and can only type is lookup.  That does not seem to be the solution you describe above.  Can you help me?

I wish to take to account number entered on the lead form and push it over to the new account.  I do not want a lookup.

Oops.  I forgot one more detail.  The account code on my account form is not a custom variable.  It is accountnumber form account.  So I want the custom field in lead to populate the system field on account.

Go to the 1:n relations in the entity lead (customizations), choose the relationship Lead to Account, switch to "Mapping" and add one by clicking on "New". Select the custom attribute you wish to copy on the left side, then select the accountnumber attribute of the account where you want to copy the value to, click OK and Publish the lead entity. This should do the trick.

    Frank,

Thank-you very much for your quick response.  I am unable to create the realtionship as you describe.  I go to settings, customize entries, lead, 1:N relationships, and then change the type to "Mappable".  I click New 1-to-Many Relationship.  There is no way to select the account attribute accountnumber.  The only choice is for a custom attribute.  Perhaps I am not understanding.

Don't click new here !!! as there is already a relationship between account and lead, open this relationship and switch to "Mapping" and here create a new mapping.

Ooohhh!  I see.  I added the mapping to the only relationship I found between Lead and Account, "account_originating_lead" and that did the trick.  I am new to CRM and these relationships.  I do so appreciate your patience and your time.  I'm having a tough time finding documentation.

Does it matter where I put the mapping?  I don't want to "break" the existing structure.

Don't bother! You can't break anything by customizing via the webclient.
