Admin can't assign account

One of my users (with the correct permissions) received an "Insufficient permissions" error when she tried to reassign an account.  I double checked her role and the role permissions and saw nothing that should have prevented her.  We are using D365 on-prem.

I tried the following troubleshooting:

  • I tried (as sys admin) to assign the account myself and received the same error.
  • I confirmed that I was able to assign other accounts without a problem.
  • I was able to assign the troublesome account to myself, but then could not assign it to anyone else.

This is a very odd error!

Has anyone heard of this happening before?  Is there an account attribute that locks it from assignment.

Many thanks,

Rob

Excellent! - The account had a child opportunity that had a child record of a new custom entity for which the user's role did not have permissions.  Once the user was granted access to that grandchild record, the account could be assigned.

    Many thanks!

    Hi,

is there a log file you can download when you see that error? Usually, that file will have more details about the missing permission (and about the entity for which it's missing).

Which user are you reassigning that account to? Does that new owner have the permissions (and, also, does that user have permissions for the records that will be re-assigned through the parental relationships on the account?)

Make sure the Account is still in Active mode and not Inactive.

Also, can you share some screenshot is this doesn't help?

    Thanks.
