Hi,
I have been comparing the values in the PhysicalInvent field and PhyscialInventCalculated() display method in the InventSum table. Apparently the field gives the same result as the calculation in the display method.
I was also reading the verified answer in the link below:
The calculation Brandon described for the PhyscialInvent field is the same as calculation in the PhyscialInventCalculated() display method.
I am wondering what is the difference between them? Why is the display method being widely used in the inquiries if the field have the same calculated value? In which scenarios, the values differ from each other?
Hi Hassan,
I checked them and found no different values.
Well, that's the question. Data seems to be similar but I am not sure.
I am asking is there any scenario when the data in the field not equals to the calculation in this display method.
Hi Hassen,
If it is determined that the data is exactly the same, then you can use the field.
Hi Blue,
Thanks I know that bit but my question is that the value populating in the PhysicalInvent field seemed to be same as the display method calculation. Does it always have the same value?
Can we use the field anywhere instead of this display method? Especially for filtering purposes, as filtering on display method is not possible.
Hi Hassan,
As mentioned, PhyscialInventCalculated() is obtained by calculation, not a direct data embodiment.
In addition, the display method cannot be modified, which is different from using fields directly.
