LabelStyle not visible on Dashboard Chart

Hey MS Chart guys,

I am currently struggeling with chart customizations for static dashboards. I created the chart and evrything works fine, but the customer has really long descriptive optionset values. So therefor I wanted to change the orientation of the X-axis labels. This works fine for the chart being used with a list view, but on the dashboard the setting is not applied. Any ideas on that?

The Screenshots attatched show the chart on the dashboard and with a list view

The XML for the X-axis:

I know that I can use e.g. LabelAutoFitStyle instead, but doesn't matter - none of the customizations to the Axis XML is applied on the Dashboard, but custom colors for the chart work.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Markus,

This is by design and we can't customize the charts in the dashboard alone.

I will raise a support ticket to confirm to the Microsoft team if this is a design flaw.

    Hi Markus,

I have two test environments, one in North America and the other in Asia Pacific. The environment in North America has this problem, but the environment in Asia Pacific does not.

Can you tell me the region of your D365 environment?

    Hi Lu Hao,

thanks for your reply! I retested myself as well and figured out, that it depends on the size of the browser wiondow. In full screen mode, the labels on the dashboard are shown like this:

    pastedimage1604046167314v1.png

In a small sized window mode or on mobile client, they get adjusted to my customization:

I have set up  IsLabelAutoFit="False"  so I thought my "hard" LabelStyle adjustments are taken always.

I am on EMEA with this environment.

    Best Markus

    Hi Markus,

Indeed. When I reduce the size of the browser, the chart automatically adjusts the labels.

In addition, it is also related to the density of the Series in the chart.

This is why the labels of the charts of the two images in my last answer are different, not because of the region, but because of the density of the records.

    So that makes sense.

    Hi Lu Hao,

thanks for verifying that behaviour and making sure it is reproduceable. As for the fixed amount of status reasons I cannot have a higher data detensy on the x axis.

Therefor I stated out in the XML the IsLabelAutoFit Property to false, as I was asuming, that if so, the custom süpecified labelstyle properties are used. But it seems as it does not work like that.

Do you personally have any other idea how to achieve a full displayed label on the dashboard for the specific chart I have in my screenshot?

    Best regards

    Markus

    Hi Markus,

I'm afraid that's not possible. Due to the Unified Interface, it automatically adjusts the display style of the element. We can't code the chart to always maintain a style in the Unified Interface.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../about-unified-interface

The solution I can think of is to decrease the width of the corresponding chart in the dashboard.

    Hi Hao,

thanks for your feedback and the link. Sadly docs do not further specify what "basic formatting" includes. These limitations make the classic dashboards kind of hard to use for getting "one sight" impressions.

I will check on our side whether a switch to power bi will be an option here.

Decreasing width is not an option, as the component already has the lowest one.

Your support was really helpful! Thanks and best regards

    Markus
