When I hit save and close, I get a message that I haven't saved first...

Posted on by 2,645

Hello,

I  currently have a business rule setup that takes a field from a previous entity/record and auto-populates this other field on a new entity/record and divide it by 2.  This is all working correctly, but when the user tries to change the value in the auto populated field and then does a save and close they get a message that there are unsaved changes.  If they hit save and then save and close it works fine.  How can I make it work when they hit save and close the first time?

Thank you.

    Hi,

    Try with this -

    If ..... Then

    Condition

              If Team equals "Celtics"

              and Location contains data

and created on does not contain data

and   Quantity Requested  does not contain data

    Action

Set Expected Attendees as Business Required

Set Quantity Requested to Expected Attendees /2

    Else

It will be good if you add else part

Sorry, I am missing something here.  My Business rule is something like the below:

    If ..... Then

     Condition

               If Team equals "Celtics"

               and Location contains data

and created on does not contain data

     Action

Set Expected Attendees as Business Required

Set Quantity Requested to Expected Attendees /2

So where would I put you logic?

In your business rules just check before auto populate the field that if the field does not contain data then only the auto populate the field.

My scope is set to All Forms already.

what is the ----Filled the value?

And where would I place this part?

    Hi ,

    I got your point -

User change the auto populated value and then click SAVE and CLOSE

This is not  working as because for first time you change the value its saved with your changes and  then your business rule fired and again change the value with auto populate field using business rules and its showing unsaved changes.

I am not sure what is the scope you have used in the  business rules ? Change it to only form if you are selected entity level.

If it does not work , add a condition that in your business rule like below -

IF (AutopopulatedField Does not Contains Data)

     ---- Filled the value

    Hope this helps.
