Alternate OptionString Values

In Item Card, I've created two new fields (Field 1 and Fields 2) with Data Type: Option

The opionstring values for FIELD 1 are A, B, and C.  The optionstring values for FIELD 2 should change depending on FIELD 1 selection.

In fact, if FIELD 1 is A, then FIELD 2 should display 1,2,3 and 4

If FIELD 2 is B, then FIELD 2 should display 5, 6, 7 and 8

Does anyone can inform how the above can be implemented

What I meant with the table suggestion is something like this. Create a table like:

    Option Linked to
    1 A
    2 A
    3 A
    4 B

And then filter the table relation by the option selected in the Field1. If A is selected, it should display as available options only 1, 2 or 3. The user chooses one of them. Internally the options are stored as integers, so your 'A' might translate as a 1. Beware of that. Or you could just code your way and not rely only on Table relation.

    RE: Alternate OptionString Values

    I'm using NAV 2013 R2 Build 36366

In fact in the FIELD 2, I want to display the option 1,2,3, etc as dropdown menu so that the user can choose one value.  Hence, table relation will not be appropriate as no single value can be selected

I do not believe you are able to create conditional Option strings in NAV. I can think of a couple of options, but both require some coding. By the way, what NAV version are you using?

.- You could simulate that by either creating a related table to hold the relation (options 1,2,3 are linked to option A - options 4,5,6 are linked to option B, etc) and you would be able to give the user the opportunity to define those relations or change them yourself easily. Although I do not know if that is something you need. If you went for this you could use the conditional relation feature made for fields with table relations.

.- Or you could hardcode a form/page to open up the list of options depending on the option selected at Field1 and retrieve the choice made by the user. This option does not require another table but it's less flexible and not as elegant.
