A quicker way to filter active prices?

Hi, we're using Ax 2012.

In the Item Price form (Inventory management > Setup > Costing > Costing versions - Price, Item Price, tab Active prices) there is a filter to see All the active prices, Current Active or Previous Active.

This filter works fine, but when I apply it, it's quite slow to load. Is there a quicker way to filter out the active prices?

Is there a field on which I can filter (perhaps a clumn I can add to the grid)? In BOM versions there is a checkbox "Active" on which I can sort, is the same possible for prices?

I do not only have this problem in Ax, but also when I use Excel to access the price table, also there I don't know how to filter out the latest active prices (unless I start writing some macros or complex formulas).

Or, is there a way to "deactivate" a price which is no longer current?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Adriaan

Update: I've been reading up on the Item Price Form (technet.microsoft.com/.../hh803026.aspx). As far as I can tell there is no better way to filter out the latest actual prices, other than using the filter mentioned above, or pull everything to Excel, make a copy of the table and then run a VBA Macro on it to keep the latest price.
