Manufacturing - MRP low level codes do not generate

We are on GP 2010 SP 3. I recently tried to generate MRP Low-Level Codes. We do not use MRP currently, but we do use Manufacturing and will use MRP in the future. When I tried to generate them, I get the message "Failure saving Preferences". Is this due to a setting that needs to be changed?

Check this discussion, there is a check list for getting the MRP correctly configured.
